irriGATEWAY:SMS calculated an evaporation index from a series of meteorological measurements including temperature, wind and solar radiation using data from SILO and BoM. The grower is then sent an SMS tailored to local farm condition using data from local weather stations, and explains how long and how much irrigation is required.
The service was launched in Townsville on Wednesday by the Minister for Natural Resources and Water Craig Wallace.
